Some things happen every October. Halloween is always on the 31st. Columbus Day shuts down your bank and favorite government office one Monday in the month. And Waunakee High School sends its football team to the WIAA playoffs. This year Waunakee has invited the Horn Dawgs' horn section to be guest artists during the halftime show this Friday! We'll crank out a hot version of Vehicle with the high school marching band. It should be a lot of fun for all involved. If you're in the area please come on out and help us root for a Warrior win! Kickoff is at 7:00 PM. Record Session
We're putting the finishing touches on our new promotional demo CD. We hope to have a mono version available for you to listen to before Thanksgiving. It will feature four of the songs which we think covers the range of music we play best. Michael Mood is producing this project. If you have need for his services, drop him a line and ask about his very reasonable rates. Steve has cranked out two issues of SGS since the last time we sent you The Dawg Pound. If you play guitar (or know somebody who does,) the kindest thing you can do (and the cheapest,) is to get in tune with SGS; either through this publication or straight on the Horn Dawg website. September and October are devoted to your strings. Steve will teach you:
Next month Steve will show you exactly how to replace your strings, using four decades of know-how so you'll get it done fast. And correct. Finally...
We're setting ourselves up so we can hit the ground running in 2012. Sometimes this involves ducking out of public view to do things like recording, or working up new music. We'd like to provide a place to play for you at least once a month. But that won't always be possible. Fear not, we may duck behind a tree for cover every now and then, be we won't go too far away. As we look forward to our Lucky 13th Year we promise to hang around for a long time to come. We'll see you at The Hody on January 7! Your Friends, The Red Hot Horn Dawgs P.S.
